One day Joko Seger’s vow that he would give his youngest son as a sacrifice to give to the gods as a form of love received wish after a long period of marriage that they weren’t blessed with children. In fact, he denied it. After a child of ten, Joko Seger and Roro Anteng give his youngest son named Kesuma as sacrifices. They rise to the top of Mt. Bromo and drop in to the crater, signaling that he requested the people to send fruits, vegetables and the cattles in the crater to the volcano every month on Kasada 14th and before the throwing events, usually they preceded with a ceremony at Pura which is located in the foot of Mt. Bromo.

It’s a ceremony held by the Tengger people. The name Tengger comes from combination name of husband & wife, Roro Anteng - a princess of the Majapahit Kingdom and a young man - Joko Seger. At one time there were wars in the Kingdom of Majapahit which resulted in the population split. Joko Seger and Roro Anteng run to residential area near the volcano and gave him the name “Tengger“.
