Jimbaran
Jimbaran It lies on the western side of Bali. Most of the local community lives away from the beach in the narrow gangs that run off the main Uluwatu road. The village is renowned for the Barong Dance and a huge holy banyan tree towers above the eleventh century temple known as Puri Ulun Siwi, dedicated to the spirits that inhabit the rice fields. Across the road is a thriving fruit and vegetable market, but most of all Jimbaran really famous for its fresh fish.  The fishermen return to the shore every morning in their brighty color jukung. Each morning from 5 am, hundreds of kilos of snapper, barracuda, sardines, tuna, mackerel, squid, prawns, garupa, clams and lobster are sold to retailers and restaurants from across the island. At Jimbaran Bay, the fish is displayed on ice at the back of the cafes, where the air is thick with the aromatic some of the burning coconut husks used to fuel the barbeques grills and keep the mosquitoes away. Juicy pink prawn are served in their shells, together with steamed ‘kangkung”, delicious homemade sauces created from garlic, tomato, onion, chilli and sweet soy, boiled rice, baked potatoes and a simple dessert of fresh pineapple, watermelon and banana. Wonderful indeed !
